"So what happen? Tell us what's going on!" you're probably saying to yourself. Heh, all right, all right, you make a forceful argument. Basically college started and it's a mighty step up from High School. Why is that? For one, the cost of intuition and getting all the supplies, books, your schedule in order, the motivation and dedication and the passion to learn. Each class Professor teaches in various different ways here and not the same in High School when they just give you the homework to do. In college, it's unpredictable.
"Wait... all this talking of starting college... that means you're a...!" That's correct, I'm indeed a "Freshmen" in college. It's not so bad. I mean, sure, I had a very rough week and I only seen a few of my friends and the others I haven't seen there I miss dearly.
Anyway, the biggest reason for this journal entry is for the Art class I'm taking. My first Art class I'm ever taking instead of my Animation class and where my Animation teacher took me under her wings and taught me all that I know (God bless her
Remember, networking with others is a GOOD thing.
At any-rate, the professor bursted through the room. He had wild white short hair and his thick glasses he wore tilted on his nose and he walked with a spring in his step. He ran out of the room too and was gone for ten whole minutes. The class was confused and quiet. As he returned, he had with him a giant wooden crate. He slammed it down on his desk and announced, "WHAT YOU SEE HERE IS WHAT IS CONCEALING THE VERY SECRET OF ART AND HOW TO BECOME A GREAT ARTIST!"
Everyone in the room couldn't help but raise an eyebrow and exchange a few whispers to one another.
As my professor gave a couple of paces back and forth, like a starving tiger in a zoo, he ran over to the crate and began to open it. "Now before I show you what's inside, notice how the crates shape. It's a key to the very secret you seek! Now then, TADAH!" As the class leaned in to see what wonders were hidden in his huge crate, everyone's jaws dropped practically to the ground. All the professor did was pull out a cardboard box! "Now tell me, what is this?"
For a moment, no one said anything. Even if a pin was dropped in the room, it would not make a sound. It was as if the professor had removed all the sound from the room. After the longest silence, one brave soul muttered, "It's a box... a cube."
"THAT'S RIGHT! HA-HA!" the Professor laughed. "All you can learn about art is exactly contained in this simple form!"
"How so, Professor?" a student across from me asked, with her hand raised high.
"I'm glad you asked!" he said with a wide grin. He began tossing up the box up and down and running all around the room. "From this box you can learn about shape, figure, anatomy, proportion, aspect, shading, three dimensional drawing, straight lines, smooth ends! And there's more!" He rubbed the box on his cheek, making another lap around the room. "It has six smooth sides and you can create so many games with a cube. I mean, heck, think of dice! What's more, this shall be your tool for this class! I guarantee you, you will learn EVERYTHING about art, just from that box!"
"How so? I mean, you explained what is unique about it, but I'm confused about what you're trying to say," another brave student said.
The professor raised the box high into the air with both of his arms stretched out and he said, "Easy! The technique is this: BECOME THE BOX!"
"Huh?" the class said at once.
Soon enough, he was bouncing off the walls, like a rubber ball. "To become a great artist, you must understand what you're drawing! You must learn about it! Study it! Become it! Get down on every detail about it! I'm not crazy! Literally, BECOME THE BOX! This is your box and no one else's! Contained inside is all the lessons of Art and you just have to accept the box and learn from it! Take good care of your box and I repeat, become the box. BECOME THE BOX! HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"
All at once, the class scooted back in their chairs and the sound died all around in the room again, however my voice seemed to stay with me. My simple whisper was so loud, it sounded as if someone yelled it, due to the room's conditions. "Now I'm concerned on a number of levels..." I whispered.
Don't get the wrong idea, he's a great guy. Strange, but who isn't? He explained about how he wants his class to be different from any other Art class and instead of recycling the same educational schedule you are upheld to in any kind of Art class, he wants to be the first to think outside the box. Heh-heh-heh, ignoring the pun, it's really a lesson I want to share for every artist. Really, it's true. If you study, learn from and become whatever you're setting your mind in creating for your masterpiece, you'll obtain the mindset you'll need to succeed in all that you do! So, that's all I have to say for now.
Now and always, God bless you all and "C'est La Vie!" ;3
P.S. Though, the first two homework assignments was drawing boxes.
